Barcelona, el Born

I cannot imagine a troip to Spain without garlic shrimps:

Yes, it was a gourmet trip, breakfast at the hotel, noon coffee, afternoon tapas and dinner in the evening. 

A few years ago we hat an apartment in El Born, which is a part of the old town. We would have loved to stay there, but of course it was taken. You can figure out why by looking at some pictures here.

Here are the most innovative and delicious tapas in Born. The place is called Bubo and it's located next to the Santa Maria del Mar church, which by the way is being built in the famous novel Cathedral of the Sea. It's a beautiful church, we finally saw it from the inside, too.  

We had tomato mozzarella salad and caesar salad plus croquettes and a bikini, the toast which normally doesn't look so beautiful and taste just amazing. This was filled with mushroom paste which was seasoned with truffle oil. I once bought a bottle of it in Italy. It was awful so I threw it away. Now I believe that I just should have used it in teeny tiny drops.

Bubo also has an amazing bakery -beware of the images, they're just TOO delicious!

And then to Mercat de Santa Caterina:

I could live in a place where you can pick up the ingredients for a dinner like this...

So there's also a shop which sells olive oils etc (the bottles in the picture) but when we were heading there to do some shopping, they were closing doors for siesta. So we continued to Pl. de Olles and bought basil and provencal flavored oils as always and these delicious fruit pulp vinegars.

And a couple of outfits, of course: these tops are actually just two silk scarves.

Heavenly food in Noti restaurant, the very best dinner ever!

Strawberry gaspacho for starters, then Thee duck and for dessert red berries with blueberry sherbet and sour cream. Hub had duck salad, tartar steak and creme brulé.

Barcelona part 1

Going towards more shops and more restaurants! 

We picked the destination because there was one room available in our favourite hotel, Wilson. It's located in Eixample, a couple of kilometres walk from the Barri Gothic, old town. On the way one can browse practically all shops, except small indie ones. I also checked the high fashion boutiques, which were selling winter clothes in 39°C heat. Here something from Chanel and Jimmy Choo.

Here we are on the way to stroll around the city and in the second picture to dine at 4Gats, where our culinary week started. Hub had his first steak and I had rabbit and we did eat some starters as well. The pictures ain't good enough to be published but the food was excellent, even though the place is one of the biggest tourist attractions. It was established in the 19th century and some guy named Pablo Picasso was one of the regular customers (oh yes, we've seen his exhibition ;P). I'm wearing a new sweater from Bershka.

Here's a small tasting of my next (few) weeks of posts; probably the best food I've ever had in my life, duck in Noti restaurant. The waitress promised to cover if I decide to lick the plate. 

We have about 500 pictures of which half is of food. But yes, it was a really good trip! 

Greek salad with Egyptian cheese

This is what we ate yesterday and I got a bad travel feaver. Quite surprisingly... 

Salad, cucumber, fresh and sun dried tomato, marinated olives, sweet pepper, olive oil and soft, creamy cheese. Just delicious! I could eat this every day.

I also could stay in Crete or at least go back sometime.

Hard to decide which was the best news,

We had sushi yesterday at the mall. They used to serve it tasteless but now it was So Good! Yes!

My very own lettuce. Yes!

Tonite is the big night and my dress looks like this. It wasn't supposed to be warm this week. I guess the Spanish intern has returned to the official Finnish Weather Forecasting company. I'll just have to go with the plan B outfit.

Weekend

I spent my Sunday at World Village Festival and it seems I'm going to attend this organisation, too.
